Creating frayed cloth in ZBrush - quick 'n easy!
Hello. In this tutorial blog, I will show how I detail fabric in Zbrush, using the example of a custom Mosin rifle that I am currently. Cloth is one of the most challenging surfaces to create in 3D. The folds and the way the cloth lies on a surface can challenge any artist's ingenuity and talent. First, let's add cloth texture on top of what we have, using the Noise maker under the Surface menu. While ZBrush is not a real rendering engine, it has its own tools to help us create what we want. Hope it comes handy for you guys as well. You could export the threaded edges out, but the poly count would be to high for the game engines. Quick overview of it is your using a weave pattern with Micro Mesh to Geo to get you torn fabric, but doing the whole model this way will create an insane amount of polys, so figured out how to just make the edges geo and the rest of the model using Micro Mesh during the BPR.
